Home button

Back to the main view from anywhere, in one tap

Once you are deep in the tree (artist → album → tracks), a home button appears to take you straight back to the artist view, without climbing back level by level.

✨ What it gives you

  • Straight back to the main view from any level
  • No need to retrace your steps one folder at a time
  • Saves time when you are deep in the tree
  • Ideal for large libraries with many albums
🔄 How it works: The button appears by itself as soon as you are deep in the tree (album view or track view). One tap takes you straight back to the artist grid.

Add everything

Send a whole album to the playlist in one tap

A button at the top right of the track view adds every song on the album to the current playlist in one go.

✨ What it gives you

  • A real time-saver for whole albums
  • Duplicates handled sensibly, without asking
  • A note of how many tracks were added
  • Immediate confirmation on screen
  • Just the thing for listening to an album end to end
🔄 How it works: While you are looking at the tracks of an album, a ➕ "Add all" button appears at the top right. One tap adds every track to your playlist, leaving out the ones already there.
✨ Ideal for:
  • Listening to whole albums without a break
  • Putting a compilation together quickly
  • Getting playlists ready for an evening
  • Not having to add tracks one at a time

Swipe to turn the page

Change page with a finger on a touchscreen

On a touchscreen, slide your finger left or right to move between pages of albums. Natural, and made for touch.

✨ What it gives you

  • Browsing that feels natural
  • Ideal on tablets and touchscreens
  • Smooth, responsive gestures
  • The direction of the swipe is worked out sensibly
  • Vertical scrolling is filtered out, so the two never clash
🔄 How it works: Put your finger on the screen over the albums and slide it quickly left or right. The movement is picked up and the page changes with a smooth animation.
✨ Ideal for:
  • Touch cabinets and kiosks
  • Windows tablets
  • Large touchscreens
  • Getting around quickly without buttons
📁 Where it is: Album view > touch navigation is on by itself

Touch feedback

The screen answers your finger

Three visual cues go with every gesture on a touch cabinet. Without them, touching a cover produces no immediate answer, and you tap a second time in doubt.

✨ What it gives you

  • A ripple spreads from the exact point touched, on a cover, a track or a playlist line
  • The cover flies to the playlist button when you add a track: you see what was added, and where
  • A bubble follows the playback cursor and shows the time you are aiming at — with a finger, your hand hides the bar
  • Covers and lines sink slightly under the finger, like the player buttons
⚠️ Note: The flying cover takes a second, long enough to follow with the eye without slowing down adding a run of tracks. These effects are kept on Raspberry Pi: that is where they earn their keep.
